Cork 'n Cap Wine Tasting News

We have a flurry of in-house wine tastings scheduled in the coming weeks...

January 18th, Jorge Ordonez Spanish Wines
Fans of Spanish wines will know the name Jorge Ordonez, considered by many to be the top importer into the US.  Our supplier has put together a incredible offer from his collection that we will be sampling that day, with sale pricing that reflects the discount the supplier is offering. There is no better time to stock up if you like these wines.  This will be an open tasting on Wednesday January 18th that you can drop in for at any time between 10am and 6pm, and is free of charge.  No reservation is required.

January 20th, Farewell to Wine Adventures
Attendees of some of the earliest CorkBoard wine tastings will remember the gregarious wine importer Steve Gaucher who visited us a couple of times with his Southern French portfolio. They were fun tastings and great value wines. The Michigan supplier of his wines has recently moved on to distributor Vahalla and we have a few of their wines remaining.  We will be opening a bottle of each of them first thing on that Friday and offer them at blow-out pricing while they last.    This will be an open tasting on Friday, January 20th that you can drop in for at any time between 10am and 6pm, and is free of charge.  No reservation is required.

January 27th, Two Great Washington Producers
Shane Nicholson of Eagle Eye Brands returns with a sampling of wines from Airfield Estates and Terra Blanca, both small-house estate producers.  We will be pouring Airfield Estate Sauvignon Blanc & Merlot and Terra Blanca Chardonnay & Cabernet Sauvignon.  If you like California wines and want to see what Washington has to offer, this tasting is for you.   This will be an open tasting on Friday, January 27th that you can drop in for at any time between 4pm and 6pm, and is free of charge.  No reservation is required.

More Tastings To Come In February
Sweets for the Sweet, just in time for Valentine's Day, and Pinot Noir From Around The World with Bob Wakeman of Rave Associates, and New Italian Wines with Rick Collett of Jackson's Peerless Wine Selections  are scheduled for February. Visit corkncap.com periodiacally for updates.

Thursday Was Our "Oberon Day" Hop Slam is here
Stock up on this Winter favorite while it's here.  It will be gone before the snow...

Vina las Perdices in half bottles
Vina las Perdices makes some outstanding wines in Argentina, and we have carried them in 750ml bottles since they first were imported by Peerless Import Selections. They recently put two of their more popular wines, the Sauvignon Blanc and the Malbec in 375ml (half bottles). We were able to make a special purchase on them to allow us to sell them for less than half the price of the regular sized bottles, just $5.99, or save even more by mixing and matching 2 or more bottles for $5.50 per bottle, or a case of 12 for just $60.

Here is an amusing letter we received in the mail the other day (redacted to protect privacy) Unfortunately, our free trip to sunny California was not to be because the "defendant" was unable to participate due to her current engagement at a nearby county "detainment facility" Readable copy here:

Cork 'n Cap Now Offers Nearly-Local Cheese from LuBelle Farms

In addition to the imported cheeses we offer from Tecumseh's Boulevard Market, we have added fresh handcrafted Michigan produced cheeses from LuBelle Farms Dairy in Climax Michigan.  They make their cheese the old fashioned way, starting with fresh milk from their naturally raised pasture fed goats and cows. We hope to keep their entire line of cheeses in stock, which include Chevre, Dilly, Italian Herb, Cream Cheese, and Fresh Garlic, just to name a few.  For more information about their farm and the cheeses they offer, visit http://www.lubellefarms.com
