Cork 'n Cap Wine Tasting News

Our Holiday Hours Will Remain Unchanged
Because Christmas Day and New Year's Day both fall on Sunday this year when we are normally closed, we will be open our regularly scheduled hours this holiday season, which are 10am - 7pm Monday thru Saturday

Our Next "In House" wine tasting is December 15th
Next Thursday, we invite Ann Boggs of Josulete Wines to walk us through a set of wines that will be great to have on hand for the holidays.  We will be pouring wines that represent a variety of styles and will have something for just about any palate. This will be an open tasting on Thursday December 15th that you can drop in for at any time between 4PM and 6PM, and is free of charge.  No reservation is required.

Sixpack #18 has just been released and comes in our slick reusable Cork 'n Cap bag

...and as an added bonus, bring in your empty bag and fill it with 6 of your favorite wines and receive a "renewable" earth friendly discount

 Great Stocking Stuffers
We've been able to get some special pricing on three different small format bottles just in time to be great stocking stuffers, or as an addition to your gift baskets...
How about a Canadian Icewine for just $8.99?
We got our hands on a special bottling of award winning Icewine from Canadian Producer Legends Estate Winery.  These 50ml maple leaf bottles are just the right size to get nice taste to see what Icewine is about, or the perfect amount to pour over a stack of flapjacks.

Vina las Perdices in half bottles
Vina las Perdices makes some outstanding wines in Argentina, and we have carried them in 750ml bottles since they first were imported by Peerless Import Selections. They recently put two of their more popular wines, the Sauvignon Blanc and the Malbec in 375ml (half bottles). We were able to make a special purchase on them to allow us to sell them for less than half the price of the regular sized bottles, just $5.99, or save even more by mixing and matching 2 or more bottles for $5.50 per bottle, or a case of 12 for just $60.

We Were Just On The TeeVee Again
It has been said that there is no such thing as "bad publicity".  As a matter of fact, Steve Doty of WILX TV said that very thing when he was in last week to do report on counterfeit currency that has been making it's way into Jackson.  Cork 'n Cap happens to be right across the street from a gas station that was one of the latest victims.  Some of you may have seen the resulting lead story on the evening news that day.  The most frequent question we have been asked about that report was "how much money were we taken for?"    *sigh*
We've been fortunate enough to not have fallen prey to the counterfeiters and in fact as I stated in the news report, we check every single bill and coin that comes into the store for its authenticity...      so don't get any ideas. ;-)
We have a link to it at corkncap.com if you would like to see it.

We Are About To Be On TeeVee Yet Again
Adrien Sharp dropped by a couple of weeks ago to shoot a story about Cork 'n Cap for JTV's Food Circus.  I am told it starts airing this Wednesday, December 14th. I am also scheduled to visit the Bart Hawley Show on Tuesday the 13th.  As they say, check local listings...  http://www.jtv.tv
We will put links to these videos up at corkncap.com as they become available

Cork 'n Cap Now Offers Nearly-Local Cheese from LuBelle Farms

In addition to the imported cheeses we offer from Tecumseh's Boulevard Market, we have added fresh handcrafted Michigan produced cheeses from LuBelle Farms Dairy in Climax Michigan.  They make their cheese the old fashioned way, starting with fresh milk from their naturally raised pasture fed goats and cows. We hope to keep their entire line of cheeses in stock, which include Chevre, Dilly, Italian Herb, Cream Cheese, and Fresh Garlic, just to name a few.  For more information about their farm and the cheeses they offer, visit http://www.lubellefarms.com

It's That Time Of Year Again

Nothing does more to tell the relatives you are meeting up with over the holidays how much you care for them than cheap wine.  Fortunately, "value priced" wine doesn't have to be dreck.  Small independent producers make some really great hand-crafted wines where the only expense spared was on marketing.  We've pulled together our "wall of value"; a special collection of great wines that deliver on quality without breaking the bank, and without showing up at our store on a factory pallet. Visit our Special Sale page at corkncap.com for details.

Here's just a couple examples of the wines we are offering on the wall for the holidays:

Special Sale From Lone Oak Vineyard Estate

Locally produced Riesling or Merlot on sale for $10.95
or their special Heart Shaped Raspberry Dessert Wine for $24.95

The Chicago Tribune calls Chateau de la Taille an "amazing value" the value hit of their tasting

Chicago Tribune "Affordable Bordeaux"

2009 was a spectacular vintage for Bordeaux and Cork 'n Cap has a limited amount of this wine available for $9.99 per bottle, or for a special price of $99 for a 12 bottle wooden case.  A great gift for the special person on your list who as everything.  Available while supplies last.

We know you don't want us to flood your email inbox with notices for in-house wine tastings. If you would like to know about our upcoming and sometimes impromptu tasting events, keep up with us on our website corkncap.com, or follow us on
