Chateau Couronneau Bordeaux Blanc, France (suggested retail $16.99) A wonderful blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Sauvignon Gris - with a typical lengthy Bordeaux finish. The nose shows hints of green peppers, lychees and gooseberry notes, supported by fine minerality and a fruity structure. This International Bio Wine Award winner is Demeter certified biodynamic, certified organic, and is produced without the use of animal-based fining agents. Crisp, yet surprisingly weighty, it is the perfect accompaniment for salads, fish and shellfish.
Chateau Grand Traverse Pinot Grigio, Michigan (suggested retail $10.99) This Michigan made product exhibits bright acidity and beautiful mineral qualities with wonderful fruit. Its floral-citrus flavors and herbaceous style will make this a very food-friendly wine. The natural acidity in this crisp Pinot Grigio will accentuate simple and delicate flavors in food, especially fish entrées. Pair with savory dishes such as seared scallops, pesto chicken, or stir fry.
McManus Cabernet Sauvignon, California (suggested retail $10.99) This Wine Enthusiast Magazine “Best Buy” is dark garnet in color with a bouquet that is full of dark berry fruit, such as Blueberry, Blackberry and Black Cherry. Oak aging has contributed just a hint of smoke to the nose. The round, creamy wine delivers an abundance of the fruit flavors promised by the olfactory. The fruit and oak are well integrated and the complexity of the wine plays on the tongue long after the wine has been ingested. Try this wine with a oven roasted pork tenderloin, red sauce pasta, or grilled ribs.
Chateau Les Combes Bordeaux Superieur, France (suggested retail $10.99) This blend of 70% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc, and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon sets off the palate with luscious blueberry, truffle and juicy blackcurrant with smoky notes of leather, caramel and sandalwood. It is supple and balanced with velvet tannins and a complex nose. Well structured and generous with a black fruit and licorice finish. This classic blend is superb with lamb, beef, and venison but also marries well with duck, pigeon and pheasant. It is great with highly flavored dishes using cheese or salty bacon, chicken or pork in rich herby sauces and mushroom based recipes.
Vina Las Perdices Pinot Noir Reserva (suggested retail $15.99) Ruby red color with violet highlights, this Argentinean immigrant from Burgundy displays aromas of red and black fruits like cherry, strawberry, raspberry, red currant, and is tinged with an elegant hint of oak. On the palate it is delicate and smooth, with notes of strawberry and other red fruits. Oak aging adds notes of vanilla and smokiness to the mix. The result is a smooth, well-balanced wine with a balanced amount of tannins. The wine is perfect with game dishes, white meats, pastas with cream sauce and fish.
Kangarilla “Street Cred” Shiraz, McLaren Vale Australia (suggested retail $17.99) Street Cred Shiraz was made using grapes sourced from several vineyards throughout McLaren Vale's sub-regions, and was aged French and American oak, yielding a wonderfully savory wine with juicy blackcurrant and black cherry fruit with hints of spice on the lively lingering finish. Another vegan friendly wine, suitably pairs with not so vegan friendly Memphis barbeque or a wood-fired pizza.
