Cupcake Vineyards Methode Traditionelle Sparkling Wine - France (suggested retail $14.99) Who says sparkling wines are only meant for special occasions? Cupcake Blanc de Blanc is 100% Chardonnay “Methode Traditionelle” imported from France. It is refreshingly soft, yet dry, and exhibits the aromas of apples, pears, and toasted almonds. This “Champagne style” wine great to celebrate a sunny day, or as one of the most versatile food pairing wines. Gold medal at 2010 Pacific Rim Wine Competition
A-Mano Moscato 2008 - Italy (suggested retail $11.99) Don’t confuse this wine with it’s effervescent sweeter sibling, Moscato d’ Asti. This wine is dry and still, but has the characteristic Moscato aroma that makes it hard to keep your nose out of the glass. This easy drinking wine from Puglia shows tropical fruit on the palate and nice balance, making it a great summer sipper. Refined, elegant, and crisp; it might be the PERFECT aperitif wine. Food Pairing: Try it with a seafood dish or roasted chicken.
Castelnoble Rojo Vivo Tinto - Spain (suggested retail $9.99) This wine is made from a blend of 75% Tempranillo and 25% of the lesser known indigenous Bobal grapes. Bright ruby in color, it is young, lively and displays wonderful fresh tones of cherry and raspberry flavors. Dry but fruity, this wine will pair up with all kinds of summer fare, like tapas, antipasti, or just about anything from the grill. The bright fruit is the result of 100% stainless steel fermentation and can be ultimately refreshing on a hot summer day when slightly chilled.
Domaine Tour Boisée Plantation 1905 Red “Mega-Blend”2007-France (suggested retail $15.99) Over 100 years ago, a very small parcel was planted with all 23 varieties of grapes known in the Languedoc. Ultimately, the vineyard in Laure Minervois had fallen into oblivion but was recently rejuvenated. All 23 varieties are harvested and fermented together to make this complex wine. Dark ruby, with bright reddish-orange glints. Pleasant scents of red berries and plums add a hint of "tree bark" and "forest floor." The aroma invites a taste, and the taste satisfies, juicy fruit with a touch of the earth, a dash of black pepper and a whiff of anise; good acidity and very soft drying tannins that underscore the wine's acidic structure. A match for red meat and hearty fare, especially recipes that include onions and mushrooms.
Prima Mano Primitivo 2006 - Italy (suggested retail $19.99) If you liked the A-Mano Primitivo that was included with one of our earlier sixpacks, you are going to love this one. This is the “reserve” version of that wine. A little history for those not familiar with Primitivo; Several years ago, researchers at UC Davis proclaimed that primitivo, thought to be a native vine of Puglia, was genetically identical to American red zinfandel — and thus the progenitor of all those rich, spicy “zins” from the likes of Turley and Ridge.
Anthony Dell “Rio Red” Red Blend, 2005, - Oregon (suggested retail $22.99) In 2002, Doug Anthony Drawbond and Joy Dell founded Anthony Dell Cellars, basing the philosophy of the business on some fundamental beliefs they hold dear: Produce wines they enjoy drinking, that showcase the fruit, and are balanced with “just enough” oak. This “Bordeaux blend” from the Rogue Valley delivers intense aromas of blueberry and black cherry that are instantly evident in the nose followed by vanilla and coffee tones. The mouth is quite full and well balanced with rich tannins and plenty of finish lengthening acidity. Over all a very pleasurable wine that is easy to enjoy alone or with a meal. We are pleased to have this outstanding wine in our latest sixpack.
