Another year of bad news for fans of Beaujolais Nouveau. The growing season in the Beaujolais region in France was poor again this year. Hail and heat were the culprits this time. That, combined with continued worldwide supply chain issues means there will be far less Nouveau available than previous years. The supplier who we have bought our Nouveau from for many years decided to not bring any in this year.

All is not lost however. There are wines that are actually BETTER to go with Thanksgiving dinner than Nouveau… all the rest of the wines from Beaujolais. They are made using the same varietal but they come from the better growing areas in the region. Better quality grapes and better wine making methods give these wines ageability and richness you don’t see in Nouveau. There is even a white Beaujolais that is made with Chardonnay and it is delicious. Domaine Pral Beaujolais Blanc is 100% Chardonnay and runs $16.99 per bottle. We are also featuring an outstanding 2021 Beaujolais Villages from producer Domaine de Roche-Guillon for $12.99 that is great to drink now, and a 91 point monster of a Cru Beaujolais from Pascal Aufranc, the 2019 Chénas en Rémont “Vignes de 1939” that you can drink now or put away in your cellar at a special price of just $17.99 . Take an additional 15% off any of these wines when purchasing an unmixed case of 12, or mix-and-match a 12 bottle case and receive 10% off the single bottle price. Château Tour de Luchey

In the district of Moulon, in the locality “Luchey”, on the banks of the Dordogne river. The estate has a medieval tower. Luchey then meant: the King’s usher. There, the usher checked the ship’s loading leaving for France’s King, via Bordeaux…. The estate has been in the same family for five generations. 

VINEYARD AREA 16.31 hectares
SOIL Silty soil
GRAPE VARIETIES 80 % Merlot, 10 % Cabernet Franc, 10 % Cabernet Sauvignon. 
HARVESTING  Density of roughly 4500 stocks per hectare. Grass between rows, mechanical and manual taking-out of the vine-shoots; green harvest and leaf-removals- Mechanical harvesting and sorting out in the cellar. 
WINEMAKING Traditional in stainless steel and cement vats with thermoregulation- Each varietal is picked and vinified separately. Vatting during 12 to 15 days. 
AGEING In stainless steel vats

Tasting Notes
A well-balanced luscious, round and supple wine with loads of fresh red fruits and ripe tannins. To taste at 17/18° on grilled meats, casseroles and cheeses.
